Colorado's breathtaking landscapes, picturesque mountains, and vibrant culture make it an idyllic destination for couples dreaming of a memorable wedding day. As a wedding planner, capturing the essence of this beautiful state while orchestrating a flawless event can be a thrilling challenge. Today I'm going to walk you through some of the unique aspects and tips for planning a Colorado wedding.

Seasonal Considerations

Colorado's four distinct seasons each bring their own charm and challenges! The seasonal differences also really depend on where in the state your wedding will take place. Temperatures in Vail are very different than temperatures in Boulder. However, no matter where you get married in Colorado, we can provide winter wonderland celebrations to blooming springtime nuptials, from golden fall affairs to sun-soaked summer ceremonies!

Location, location, location

As you search through Colorado venue options you'll see there are really two different areas that you can choose: the Foothills or the Mountains. Mountain vneues would include places like Vail, Beaver Creek, Winter Park, Aspen, Steamboat Springs, to name a few. The Foothills include places like Denver, Boulder, or Colorado Springs.

The major airport for us is Denver International Airport which is located in Aurora, Colorado. If you are getting married in the mountains, the drive from the airport to your wedding may be 2-4+ hours. Keep this in mind for your guests and make sure they're prepared!

Altitude

Keep in mind that altitude is a huge part of life here in Colorado, especially for our visitors. Encourage your guests to come a few days (or a week) before your ceremony to help mitigate potential altitude sickness, especially if you're getting married in the mountains. Some ideas of things you can add to your wedding to help with altitude for out-of-town guests:

- LOTS of water stations everywhere

- Oxygen containers (Boost Oxygen is a great one)

- Oxygen Bars are also very popular! You can hire a local company to set up a station all night for guests.

Embrace the Colorado outdoors

Colorado's adventurous spirit attracts couples seeking unique wedding experiences. From hiking ceremonies on mountain trails to skiing or snowboarding weddings on powdery slopes, you can choose some pretty exciting and unique wedding options here!

Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Weddings

Colorado's commitment to environmental sustainability aligns with the growing trend of eco-conscious weddings. We have plentiful options here for farm-to-table catering, locally sourced flowers, and renewable energy options. Many of the venues you are choosing from may also have some wonderful green initiatives, so make sure to ask!
